The electronic passport appeared in Monaco
From now on, the Principality adopted the electronic passport. People living in Monaco are delivered since late 2005 exclusively with electronic passports and this is a real success. The said passport was established in accordance with the O.A.C.I - Organisation de l’Aviation Civile Internationale (International Civil Airforce Department). These passports remain very practical, indeed people possessing these kind of passports delivered between September 1, 1999 to October 25, 2005 are exempted from having a visa to enter into the United States of America. Old passeport in Monaco will be automatically replaced by the delivery of an electronic passport from now on. Of course people who want to change their passports even before the expiration date, could do it and children could have an electronic one as well. Unfortunately they are not free of charge. For an electronic passport with a validity date of 5 years the price is euro 50 and for those with a validity of 3 years, euro 25.
