Tuiga silk Hermès scarf sold for charity: Prince Albert II attends benefit at Monaco Yacht Club

Recently, Prince Albert II welcomed nearly 300 club members to the Monaco Yacht Club for an exclusive event to benefit the Monegasque association ‘Orphelinats du monde’ (Orphanages of the World). A unique scarf specially designed by the luxury goods company Hermès, was unveiled by the Prince. The scarf , on sale for 250 euro until December 1, was inspired and named after the classic yacht, Tuiga built in 1909 by boat designer William Fife and considered one of the most beautiful classic yachts in the world. Tuiga has become a true ambassador for the Principality, attracting enthusiasts including Dennis Conner, four-times winner of the America’s Cup. Prince Albert, who is President of the Monaco Yacht Club created The Spirit of Tuiga as a way for future generations and especially young sailors to learn about traditional sailing methods and navigation techniques as well as learning to respect naval etiquette and the environment on aboard this classic yacht. The funds raised by the sale of the scarves will be donated to the ‘Orphelinats du monde’ project, which provides educational support, including French classes and professional tourism training to orphans. The Prince also attended the Monaco Yacht Show 2006 that took place last month at Port Hercules, attracting thousands of visitors to see the super yachts.
