In order to minimize the damaging effects of Carbon Dioxide waste following a Fair the size of the Monaco Yacht Show, its’ organizers, in association with Camper & Nicholson International, have agreed to finance compensatory projects, destined to save equivalent levels of Carbon dioxide: It is the eco-tax. In association with Camper & Nicholson, one of the world leaders in yacht brokering, the Monaco Yacht Show has undertaken to pay this eco-tax, used against a particular volume of reforestation, thus aiming to compensate for the high levels of carbon dioxide emitted during the Show. During the Yacht Show, which this year lasted from 21st to 24th October (inclusive), a total of 540 exhibitors were present, compared to only 273, five years ago. Throughout the duration of the Show, The Carbon Neutral Company recorded: Electricity and waste of 540 exhibitors (the stands covering an area of 8000m2), of whom were of more than 38 different nationalities; Electricity and waste of a total of 95 yachts, measuring from 20 to 80 meters; 25 annexes of between 6 to 14 meters. The Carbon Neutral Company (TCNC) is managing an international programme which aims to stabilize and reduce the concentrations of green-house gases in the atmosphere, so that serious and irreversible damage is not inflicted on our planet. The system is a very simple one: the waste output measured engenders an eco-tax, this tax is then immediately injected into the funding of a reforestation project. This compensatory project proposed to the Monaco yacht Show in 2005 concerns Nairnside Wood in Scotland, a new wooded area of willow trees, alders, junipers, silver birch and many more, and will not only help save Caledonian pine trees, but at the same time also offer a precious habitat to many species of birds. A total of 10,000 trees will be planted. Local Projects Now Under Consideration. For future editions of the Show, Luc Pettavino, organizer of the Monaco Yacht Show, has asked TCNC/Future Forest to determine the possibilities of reforestation around Monaco, particularly those areas devastated by forest fires in recent years. H.S.H. Prince Albert II Encourages This Move. Supportive of this responsible step taken by the Monaco Yacht Show, H.S.H. Prince Albert II commented during a lunch aboard Camper & Nicolsons International Motor Yacht True Blue at this years’ Show: “I am sure that all participants of this Show will understand and ultimately follow this initiative by controlling their level of waste pollution as much as possible. It is undeniable that it is up to our generation, as well as future ones, to do everything possible to combat the negative effects atmospheric pollution is having on our health, and the devastating impact of green-house gases on the climate of our planet.” Worth Knowing: - Lighting left on in an office over-night, consumes the same quantity of energy used to boil hot water for 1000 coffee cups. - A computer left switched on consumes 51kWh per year, which is the equivalent to the energy used to boil water in 500 kettles. - Switching off 2 photocopiers and 3 printers reduces the amount of carbon dioxide emission in one year, by 5000 tons. - High-quality white paper is the best for recycling, and yet it represents 70% of all office waste. - Thanks to the Future Forest project from Carbon Neutral, it is possible to compensate for the pollution emitted throughout a year from an average-sized car, by the plantation of 5 trees.

The Monoco Monitor:
Talk about fumes and such. My sewing teacher, ANN MARIE KONIEZCNY of Florence MA USA, spent 10 days in Romania as a missionary for her church-she went with a group of Christians to help the Romanians witn agriculture-no tractors, there! Little did the Romanians know what an expert fashion designer Ann Marie is!
Anyhow! Sewing classes weren’t held Oct.-5-12 as Ann Marie was in Romania. Ann Marie brings back that Bucharest had sewer pipes leadings out of house into the streets! Ann Marie said the smell is horrendous! STINK! Also, there are no fabric shops in Bucharest or it’s vicinity-only near the BLACK SEA! Also, there was a cashmere shop but the shop owners used the cashmere for garments to be sold for their own profit! A BLAST FROM THE PAST!

Letters To The Editor:
This is a follow-up letter to my Oct. 23, 2006 one in THE MONOCO MONITOR. Sewing class was held yesterday, Oct. 26 and Ann Marie Konieczny talks more about Timisoara Romaina, where she was on a
missionary visit just recently. I asked Ann Marie if she had bought anything in that cashmere shop. Ann Marie says she was frugal on her Romainian trip and she did not buy anything in that shop in Timisoara.
I then asked Ann Marie if she thought the man objected to a no sale?
Ann Marie says I have that Easter European look with small eyes, don’t I ?
Also, Ann Marie syas about Romania, potatoes are eaten with most every-thing in Romania. MP
