onaco Government announces development plans for these two districts

The government of Monaco has laid out its plans for the future concerning two districts in the Principality. Saint Roman is a narrow residential strip extending from the eastern border with France to the Ténao stairs (escalier), and south to include the Monte-Carlo Sun skycraper and a park. A collection of villas in the rue des Giroflées (cloves) are among the buildings to be renovated. This attractive and peaceful little street includes several well-preserved villas built before 1910. A much bigger project involves the area around the Jardin Exotique, located on the Moyenne Corniche above Monaco. The gardens are to be redeveloped to create a leisure park, while retaining the iconic profile of the cliff on which it is perched. It will also be linked in some way to the Princesse Antoinette Park to the east. Secondly, plans are in hand to create more apartments and offices without destroying the line-of-sight from the Tête de Chien to The Rock (Le Rocher) and Monaco-Ville. Two sites have been earmarked so far – they are Teotista, between avenue Hector Otto and blvd du Jardin Exotique, and Simona. Finally, the Princess Grace Hospital to the west is to be rebuilt and more apartments built around it. This project has been under discussion for several years but contractors are expected to be appointed soon.
